Author Guidelines

Manuscript Preparation

SIGMA accepts original research articles, review articles, and conceptual papers in the field of mathematics education. Manuscripts must not have been previously published or be under consideration by another journal or publication outlet.

1. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be organized in the following order:

Affiliation and Address
Email Address
Abstract
Keywords
Introduction
Methods
Results and Discussion
Conclusion
References

Section headings should be written in bold, aligned to the left margin, and should not be numbered. The Introduction does not require a section heading.

2. Title and Authors

The title should be concise, specific, informative, and reflect the main content of the article. Author names should be written without academic titles, followed by institutional affiliation, address, and email address. The corresponding author should be clearly identified.

3. Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should briefly present the background or research problem, objective, methods, main findings, and conclusion. The abstract should be written as a single paragraph and should generally not exceed 250 words.

Provide 3–5 keywords that accurately represent the main concepts of the article.

4. Introduction

The Introduction should explain the research background, rationale, relevant previous studies, research gap, research problem or objective, and the contribution or novelty of the study. References should primarily consist of relevant and recent scholarly sources.

5. Methods

The Methods section should clearly describe the research design, setting and period, participants or subjects, sampling procedures, instruments, data sources, data collection procedures, and data analysis techniques. Research ethics and relevant ethical approval should be reported where applicable.

6. Results and Discussion

Results should be presented clearly and systematically using appropriate tables, figures, graphs, or narrative descriptions. The Discussion should interpret the findings and relate them to relevant theories, previous studies, research questions, and the contribution of the study. Repetition of the Results should be avoided.

7. Conclusion

The Conclusion should provide a concise answer to the research objectives or questions and should be directly supported by the findings. Implications and recommendations may be included when relevant.

8. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must be clear, relevant, and referred to in the text. Each table and figure should have a concise title and appropriate source information where necessary. Authors must ensure that all visual materials are original or used with appropriate permission.

9. References and Citation

SIGMA uses APA Style, 7th edition for in-text citations and references. All cited sources must appear in the reference list, and all references must be cited in the manuscript.

Authors are encouraged to use recent, relevant, and peer-reviewed scholarly sources. Reference management software such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote is recommended.

10. Formatting

Manuscripts should use:

Times New Roman, 11 pt;
single line spacing;
approximately 1.5 cm first-line paragraph indentation;
consistent margins and formatting throughout the manuscript; and
clear and consistent formatting of headings, tables, figures, and references.

The recommended length is approximately 4,000–7,000 words, excluding references and supplementary materials.

11. Originality and Plagiarism

All manuscripts must be original and free from plagiarism, duplicate publication, redundant publication, and simultaneous submission. Manuscripts may be checked using plagiarism-detection software before or during the editorial process.

Authors are fully responsible for the originality and integrity of their manuscripts.

12. Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, personal data, or other ethically sensitive subjects must comply with applicable research ethics standards and obtain ethical approval or informed consent where required.

Authors must disclose relevant funding sources and potential conflicts of interest.

13. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for language editing, grammar checking, translation, or other appropriate supporting purposes. However, AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, citations, data, analysis, and final content of the manuscript. The use of AI-assisted technologies should be disclosed when required by the journal.

14. Submission and Peer Review

All manuscripts must be submitted through the SIGMA Open Journal Systems (OJS). Submissions are initially screened by the Editor for scope, originality, structure, and compliance with the journal guidelines.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are reviewed by qualified peer reviewers. Editorial decisions may include Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.

15. Copyright and Publication Ethics

Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript complies with SIGMA's policies on copyright, authorship, conflict of interest, publication ethics, corrections, and retractions.

Submission of a manuscript to SIGMA implies that the authors agree to comply with the journal's publication policies and ethical standards.
